Senator Lito Lapid expressed concern over the proliferation of advertisements of online gambling on different social media platforms in the country.

According to Lapid, chairman of the Senate Committee on Games and Amusements, young people who are exposed early to social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok risk becoming addicted to online gambling. This could also harm their values and morality if the government fails to act on it.

Financial technology (FinTech) or mobile wallet services, such as GCash, PayMaya and others platforms could also be exploited for gambling.

“If the youth are getting away with playing online gambling, how can we raise them well and with good values in life. It is sad that our youth good manners will be destroyed by this bad habit and they may even bet their pocket money in school. If worse gets worst, they might learn to steal, like the characters in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” said Lapid.

The Senator added that it is very easy to install applications on cellphones and other mobile devices for online gambling. This is often overlooked by parents. It is also very easy or accessible to register because only name and age are required.

Among the online gambling that young people are obsessed with today are poker, roulette, color games and others like in casino.

Because of this, the Senator will file a resolution seeking the committee to investigate the illegal gambling online and formulate a law to prevent or suppress it.

INILABAS na ng Tangere survey ang listahan ng 12 potensyal na kandidato na posibleng magwagi sa karera sa pagkasenador sa darating na 2025 midterm elections.

Nangunguna si ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin T. Tulfo, na may nakuhang 57 percent,

Pumangalawa sa pinapaborang potensyal na kandidato sa pagkasenador ay si dating Pangulong Rodrigo R. Duterte, may 50.83 porsyento, ikatlo si Senador Bong Go na may 47.08 porsyento.

Nasa ika-apat na pwesto si dating Senador Tito Sotto, may 43.75 porsiyento, at si incumbent Senator Pia Cayetano ay nasa ikalimang puwesto sa nakuhang 41.25 porsiyento.

Si TV at radio personality Ben Tulfo sa ikaanim na puwesto na may 40.83 porsiyento, si Senador Lito Lapid ay nasa ikapitong puwesto na may 40.08 porsiyento, at nasa ikawalong puwesto si Presidential sister at Senator Imee Marcos.

Lumapag naman sa ika-siyam na puwesto si boxing champ at dating senador Manny Pacquiao na may 37.50 percent, kasunod ang natalong presidential aspirant at ngayo’y TV personality Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, na may 35.42 percent, sa ikasampung puwesto.

Nasa ika-11 si dating Senador Ping Lacson na may 35 porsiyento at si Senador Francis “Tol” Tolentino, na may 34.17 porsiyento, ang kumumpleto sa tinatawag na ‘Magic 12’ para sa 2025 senatorial election.
