There are many ways to tell a story, and many stories to tell. An investigation can be trying to establish the cause of a problem, or solutions to that problem; it can be revealing previously hidden unethical behaviour, or shining a light on issues which are ‘hidden in plain sight’; it can be holding a mirror up to a part of society to reveal its scale; or giving a voice to that part of society as a step towards a more sophisticated understanding of problems affecting it. And depending on the type of story, you might adopt different approaches to telling it.
News Reporters and broadcasters are taught to keep themselves out of the stories they cover. They are supposed to be impartial conveyors of information. But being a public servant and a host of a charitable program and helping those who are in need and distressed OFWs, dealing with them and holding them hand on hand and also talking to them personally. Knowing their struggles and situations, I can’t help but to get connected to the people and be with them until we got resolve on their complaints, requests and issues.
With this work, I am more than satisfied now than ever before and I will not stop to fight for the rights of the distressed and help those who are in need.
Never shake a hand sitting down. Standing up shows respect and engagement. It signifies that you value the person you are meeting and are fully present in the interaction.
Protect who is behind you, and respect who is beside you. This emphasizes loyalty and honor. Protecting those behind you means safeguarding your family, friends, and teammates. Respecting those beside you signifies recognizing the equality and value of your peers.
Never insult the cooking when you are the guest. Showing gratitude and respect for hospitality is essential. Criticizing the cooking is disrespectful and ungrateful, especially when someone has gone out of their way to host you.
Never eat the last piece of something you didn’t buy. This rule underscores courtesy and consideration for others. It demonstrates awareness and respect for shared resources and the contributions of others.
Never make the first offer in a negotiation. Letting the other party make the first offer can provide strategic advantages. It gives you insight into their expectations and can help you negotiate better terms.
Don’t take credit for work you didn’t do. Integrity in acknowledging others’ efforts is crucial. Taking undue credit undermines trust and damages your credibility.
Take the blame, and give credit when due. Owning up to mistakes and recognizing others’ contributions builds respect and trust. It shows maturity and leadership.

A single mother of four young children decided to buy a used car to get to work. The cars old owner asked her to open the trunk when she got home. What she finds in the trunk would be life-changing.
Jennifer was a single mother of four young kids after her husband Adam left when he found out she was pregnant with their fourth child. “Another child to feed? No way! Ive had enough!” he said one day, leaving their trailer and filing for divorce.
Jennifer was devastated. She and Adam did not plan the pregnancy, but she thought she would have his support through such a challenging time, especially since they were already facing financial difficulties at the time.

After their separation, Adam stopped giving her money for their children. He claimed he had no job and that no one would take him in because he did not graduate college.

She found one but she wondered whether the owner would agree to sell it for a lower price. “By any chance, would you be able to give me this car for $5000? You see, Im a single mom of four, and its been difficult for me to earn money. I was hoping to get a car to take a job in a nearby city,” she admitted.
When the owner found out that she was raising four young children on her own, he agreed to sell the car for $5000. “If you can buy the car by tomorrow, I can give this to you for $5000,” he told her.
Jennifer couldnt be more grateful to the owner for agreeing to sell at a lower price. She took her chances and applied for a loan at the bank so she could get the car the following day. Unfortunately, because of her bad credit, the loan was rejected immediately.

As she was running out of options, Jennifer thought deeply about what to do next. She could not move to a new city because her eldest child, Ethan, had just started school near the trailer park they lived in.
Rent in the nearby city was also a lot more expensive, and she wouldnt be able to take the trailer with her. She really needed a car to take her to and from work and fetch her children from school and the daycare.
Then she remembered the family heirloom her late mother had left her – a gold chain necklace that had been in her family for generations. She teared up at the thought of having to sell it so she could buy a car, but she desperately needed it to provide for her children in the long run.

Jennifer took the gold chain necklace from her trinket box and walked toward a nearby pawnshop. “Im sorry, mom. I really need to do this right now,” she said aloud.
When she got to the pawnshop, the necklace was valued at $5500. Jennifer was delighted. The amount was enough to buy the car and she would have some left for their daily needs.
The following day, she went back to the used car dealership and handed the owner an envelope filled with $5000. “Thank you for agreeing to sell this to me, sir. You have no idea how much this will help my children and I,” she said and handed the man the envelope.

The owner, who introduced himself as Jeff, smiled. “Congratulations on your car. This is an excellent purchase,” he told her.
While Jennifer signed the paperwork for the purchase, Jeff discreetly placed something in the trunk of the car, and ss Jennifer prepared to drive home, he called out after her.
“By the way, check the cars trunk when you get home. I left something for your children inside,” he said, waving at Jennifer before she drove away.
Since buying the car, Jennifer became busy commuting to work and taking her children to school and daycare that she completely forgot about checking the trunk, until she found a note in the cars glove compartment.
“I hope you and your children liked the gift I left inside the trunk. May it be of great help to you.” Surprised, she decided to open the trunk to search for the gift.

RELIEF GOODS AT AYUDA SA MGA MANGINGISDA SA MASINLOC, IPINAMAHAGI NI LAPID
PERSONAL na naghatid ngayong araw si Senador Lito Lapid ng financial assistance at family food packs para sa mga mangingisda sa Masinloc, Zambales na nawalan ng kabuhayan dahil sa fishing ban ng China sa West Philippine Sea.
Sa inisyatiba ni Lapid, nabiyayaan ng ayuda at family food packs mula sa DSWD ang mahigit sa 600 mangingisda at market vendors na apektado ng ilegal fishing ban na ipinatupad ng Tsina sa ating Exclusive Economic Zone mula noong June 15, 2024.
Bukod sa relief goods, namahagi rin ang Senador ng tig-3,000 pesos kada mangingisda at vendors para sa pangangailangan ng kanilang mga pamilya.
Naglaan din ang tanggapan ni Lapid ng P1-milyon para sa ayuda sa mga mangingingisda sa Masinloc, Zambales.
Base sa datos ng munisipyo, mahigit sa 3,000 mangingisda ang naapektuhan ng fishing ban sa buong Masinloc.
Nagpasalamat si Lapid sa mainit na pagsalubong at magiliw na pagtanggap sa kanya ng mga taga-Masinloc kaakibat ng pangako na muli syang maghahatid ng tulong sa kanila.
Inaasahan ng Senador na kahit na konti ang naibigay nyang tulong pinansyal at relief goods ay makatutulong ito sa kanilang pangangailangan.
Abot-abot naman ang pasalamat ng mga benepisyaryo kay Lapid sa kanyang pagdalaw at napapanahong ayuda sa kanila.
“Malaking tulong po ito sa aming mangingisda na nawalan ng hanapbuhay at natatakot po kaming mamalakaya sa Bajo de Masinloc dahil sa banta ng China sa amin, Maraming salamat kay Sen. Lapid dahil sa iyong malasakit at pag-bibigay ng panahon sa aming mahihirap. Hulog ka ng langit sa amin, Supremo!,” ayon sa isang benepisyaryo.
Sinabi naman ng isa pang benepisyaryo, hindi nila makalilimutan si Sen. Lapid dahil sa tulong na kanyang ibinahagi sa mga market vendor na apektado ng inflation at kawalan ng kita dahil sa fishing ban ng Tsina sa Panatag shoal.
“Halos nawalan na kami ng kita. nagdidildil na lang ng asin ang aming pamilya para lang makatawid sa gutom na aming nararanasan. Sana may magawa po ang gobyerno natin na mabawi ng Tsina ang fishing ban at makabalik kami sa Bajo de Masinloc,” dagdag pa ng isang mangingisda.
Nagpaabot naman si Mayor Senyang Lim ng buong suporta kay Lapid na anya’y anak ng labandera at stuntman, batikang artista at walang bahid ng korapsyon ang pagseserbisyo sa publiko sa nakalipas na 30 taon.

According to Lapid, chairman of the Senate Committee on Games and Amusements, young people who are exposed early to social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok risk becoming addicted to online gambling. This could also harm their values and morality if the government fails to act on it.
Financial technology (FinTech) or mobile wallet services, such as GCash, PayMaya and others platforms could also be exploited for gambling.
“If the youth are getting away with playing online gambling, how can we raise them well and with good values in life. It is sad that our youth good manners will be destroyed by this bad habit and they may even bet their pocket money in school. If worse gets worst, they might learn to steal, like the characters in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” said Lapid.
The Senator added that it is very easy to install applications on cellphones and other mobile devices for online gambling. This is often overlooked by parents. It is also very easy or accessible to register because only name and age are required.
Among the online gambling that young people are obsessed with today are poker, roulette, color games and others like in casino.
Because of this, the Senator will file a resolution seeking the committee to investigate the illegal gambling online and formulate a law to prevent or suppress it.

Namahagi rin si Lapid ng tig-5,000 piso sa 300 benepisyaryo mula sa bayan ng Sebaste, Pandan at Culasi.
Umabot sa kabuuang P5.5M ang naipamahagi ni Lapid sa mga benepisyaryo sa buong lalawigan ng Antique, kabilang na ang Senior Citizens, Solo Parents, PWDs at mga estudyante.

Todo-pasalamat naman ang mga benepisyaryo sa ibinigay ni Senador Lapid na napapanahong ayuda sa kanila na pang-matrikula sa mga anak sa pasukan, pambili ng pagkain at mga gamot.
