Iniugnay kamakailan ng Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) ang mga magsasaka sa North Cotabato sa isang institutional buyer ng Cardava banana upang magkaroon sila ng siguradong mapagbebentahan ng kanilang mga produktong pang-agrikultural.
Iniugnay ng DAR ang Arakan River Irrigators Credit Cooperative (ARICCO) ng Naje, Arakan sa Liberty Fruits Inc., mula Mua-an Kidapawan City para direkta silang magsagawa ng collective marketing para sa kanilang mga sariwang ani ng saging ng cardava.
Ayon kay Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Charish Paña, sinanay ng DAR ang ARICCO bilang consolidator ng mga grupong mga magsasaging ng cardava mula sa mga barangay ng Naje, Malibatuan, atDoroluman, upang sama-sama nilang maibenta ang kanilang mga saging upang magkaroon ng makatarungan at mas makatwirang presyo para sa kanilang mga produkto.
“Pagkatapos ng mga serye ng konsultasyon at pagpaplano, kasama ang Arakan Municipal Agriculturist, nakapagsimula na ang ARICCO sa kanilang pagsubok na i-market ang naipong 8,890 kilo ng sariwang saging ng cardava,” aniya.
Sinabi ni Paña na patuloy na tutulungan ng DAR ang mga magsasaka na mapanatili ang kanilang gawain upang magkaroon sila ng matatag na pamilihan para sa kanilang ani at mapagbuti ang kanilang pamumuhay.
“Ang pag-uugnay sa kanila sa mga institusyunal na mga mamimili ay bahagi ng interbensyon ng suportang serbisyo ng DAR upang matulungang lumakas ang sektor ng agrikultura sa kanayunan,” aniya.
Ang kaganapan ay ipinatupad sa ilalim ng proyekto ng DAR na Linking Smallholder Farmers (LinkSFarmM) sa pakikipagtulungan sa mga lokal na pamahalaan at mga pribadong grupo.
Nakarating na sa probinsya ng Siquijor ang ating PagbaBAGo campaign. Ito na ang pang-limang probinsya na ating pinuntahan upang ikampanya sa mga kabataan ang kahalagahan ng edukasyon at sariling determinasyon para marating nila ang kanilang mga pangarap sa buhay.
Hinikayat din natin ang mga magulang na planuhing mabuti ang kanilang pamilya upang mapaniguro na mabibigay nila ang mga kinakailangang suporta sa kanilang mga anak lalo na ang pagpapatapos sa pag-aaral.
Sa kabuuan, mayroon na tayong naipamahaging 2,400 na mga PagbaBAGo kits para sa mga mag-aaral at 5,000 food packs para sa mga magulang.

MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Tuesday said there will be more inspections to be conducted in coordination with other agencies to uncover allegedly hoarded stocks of sugar.
In a statement, Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz said these inspections aim to send a clear message to groups and businesses that the government is serious about going after hoarders.
“We aren’t stopping anytime soon, and working together with different government agencies — from the police to the military — showed what we can do when we pour all our resources and energy into doing what we are mandated to do and what the President had asked from us,” he added.
The continuous inspection of warehouses believed to be storing sugar came following the unauthorized issuance of Sugar Order No. 4, which was earlier rejected by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who concurrently serves as Agriculture Secretary and chairperson of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA).
The order would have allowed the importation of 300,000 metric tons of sugar.
At the same time, the bureau is set to start on Tuesday the inventory of the goods, including local and imported sugar worth PHP1.8 billion, that were found inside a warehouse in Nasugbu, Batangas after conducting an inspection on Sept. 4.
The inventory will be led by the assigned Customs examiners and will be witnessed by Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), Enforcement and Security Service, and representatives of the warehouse.
The team, composed of (CIIS) at the Manila International Container Port, that inspected the storage found an estimated 181,299 sacks of imported MITR PHOL brand pure refined sugar from Thailand, as well as some 197,590 sacks of the local Don Pedro white sugar. Each sack contains 50 kilograms of sugar.
Armed with a Letter of Authority (LOA) and Mission Order (MO) issued by Ruiz, the team arrived at Central Asucarera Don Pedro in Barangay Lumbangan in Nasugbu, Batangas where they found imported goods, as well as local and imported sugar.
“We consider this a huge breakthrough in our ongoing campaign against sugar hoarding. This may be one of our biggest operations to date since we started inspecting sugar storage facilities,” Ruiz said. (PNA)

Pinapa-paspasan ni Senador Imee Marcos sa Department of Agriculture (DA) ang paglalabas ng Php9 billion na subsidya ng gobyerno sa mga magsasakang kasado na para sa rice planting season ngayong Setyembre hanggang Oktubre.
Sa sumbong ng mga magsasaka sa opisina ni Marcos, inabot na ng ilang buwan mula nang ianunsyo ng Department of Budget and Management na may cash aid na Php5,000 sa may 1.6 milyong magsasaka pero wala pa rin silang natatanggap hanggang ngayon.
“Huwag nang i-time deposit ang pondo ng mga magsasaka at hindi naman yan para tumubo ng interes sa bangko. Paspasan na ang pag-release niyan, ngayon din,” Marcos said.
Katunayan, anumang oras pwede nang ilabas ng Land Bank of the Philippines ang mga nasabing subsidiya pero ibinibitin lang ng umano’y problema ng DA sa ID system nito para sa mga magsasaka.
“Kung di kaya ng DA na i-update ang RSBSA (Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture), dapat patulong na sila sa mga municipal agriculturist na merong listahan ng mga kooperatiba ng mga magsasaka sa kanilang nasasakupan,” ayon sa senadora na chairman ng Senate Committee on Cooperatives.
Ang RSBSA ay listahan ng mga indibidwal na mga magsasakang kwalipikado sa subsidiya sa abono at binhi, pero ayon kay Marcos ay hindi dapat i-echapwera at sa halip ay ituloy ang suporta sa mga gumanda na ang kabuhayan at nagka-negosyo na ng mga produktong may ‘value-added’ o halagang dagdag gawa sa kanilang pananim.
May koleksyon ang gobyerno na Php18.9 billion sa rice tariff o buwis sa pag-angkat ng bigas, at halos Php9 billion dito ang pwedeng ipandagdag sa subsidiya sa mga magsasaka, bukod pa sa Php10 billion na itinakda sa ilalim ng Rice Tarrification Law.
Babala ni Marcos, liliit ang ani ng mga magsasaka at kakapusin tayo ng pagkain kapag patuloy na ibinitin ang subsidiya na ipambibili nila ng mga abono at iba pang mga farm inputs.
“Ang DA mismo ang gagawa ng mas malaking problema kapag binitin pa ang ayuda para sa mga magsasaka. Tatamlay ang ani kung hindi nila kayang bumili ng abono at iwanan na lang ang pagsasaka,” paliwanag ni Marcos.
Giit ni Marcos, makatitipid ang mga magsasakang nagbubungkal ng isang ektaryang palayan ng nasa 25% hanggang 33% sa gastos sa abono, kapag ibinigay na ang limanlibong pisong ayuda.
Pumapatak kasi sa anim hanggang walong bag ng abono ang nagagamit ng mga magsasaka kada ektarya at papalo sa Php15,000 hanggang Php20,000 ang gastusin nila sa abonong urea.
Bitin ang supply ng abono gaya ng urea sa buong mundo at hilo na ang karamihang magsasaka sa pag-triple ng presyo mula Php800 sa kada 50 kilo noong 2020, na sumirit sa Php2,300 hanggang Php2,500 ngayong taon.

Providing information and education to the youth about local armed conflict is a critical step to keep them from being deceived and recruited by terrorists and communists.
The effort of SDO Aurora and 91IB in establishing a whole-of-nation approach to address the root causes of the armed conflict is worthy of emulation by more education institutions in the country.
