What Made Him Do It. The Doctor Speaks.

He exposed so many things:
Illegal drugs. Graft & Corruption. Other Crimes.

He sought the help of the defunct PACC.
Nothing came out. Cold shoulder treatment.

They tried to silence him a number of times.
Cases after cases were filed against him instead.
They tried to end his life not ones, but many times over.

What made him do it?
THE DOCTOR SPEAKS.

I am not ashamed that this happened to me. I am proud that i have gone through this. This is my battle scar.

When this fight is over, this mag shot will hang on my clinic wall as a testament of this struggle to liberate Lamitan and its people against 2 decades of corrupt politicians who drained public funds dry that even the most basic of services are denied from the poorest of the poor.

Until my last drop of blood and breath, i will fight for Lamitan. I do not wish to be put on the pedestal, my prize would be that day when my people will no longer beg to be given what is due to them, when Lamiteños no longer need to leave the town we love so dear to have a better life.

In my blood runs the blood of Dr. Conrado Yumol M.D, my grandfather who up to his last minute was spent on serving Lamiteños.

In my blood runs the blood of my father Bobong Yumol who served the military, PNP and is a full blooded Lamiteño, a brave man who will not back down on any fight.

In my blood runs the blood of Muykim Yumol my mother, Tausug by blood and race, born in the island of Tapol, Jolo, known for their bravery in defending this country against oppressors.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wants the Department of Agriculture (DA) to come up with a farm-to-market road (FMR) masterplan

PBBM wants farm-to-market road masterplan to promote food security

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wants the Department of Agriculture (DA) to come up with a farm-to-market road (FMR) masterplan that will serve as a guide for the government in its bid to promote food security and empower rural communities.

In a meeting at the Bureau of Soils and Water Management Convention Hall in Quezon City on Monday, Marcos, who concurrently heads the DA, told agriculture officials that the masterplan should include regional maps detailing the exact locations of the farm-to-market roads to be constructed.

The masterplan must be studied thoroughly by the department and must be presented to the country’s economic managers, stressed Marcos.

We will go to Public Works. And also, what are the areas that we really want to open, that really need the FMR? Iyon ang unahin natin,” he said.

The plan should also include funding source, payment terms, as well as the time frame for project completion, he added.

The President also wants official development assistance-funded (ODA) projects to be constructed in priority areas identified by the government.

For state-funded FMR projects, he insisted that the DA and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) should take charge of the implementation.

The President also pointed out that the government must prioritize areas with active agricultural production to address supply chain concerns.

“FMR is the first step to solve some of the supply chain problem. So unahin muna natin ‘yung nagpo-produce,” he said.

It was also suggested that agricultural infrastructure should be climate-change resistant such as projects that are not prone to landslides and other calamities.

The chief executive added that the process of streamlining the functions of DA continues, as part of efforts to bring a tighter focus on its mandate.

“Siguro naman you have been hearing the new term now is “rightsize”. So that’s also something that we are going to have to discuss. That we have to rightsize the DA,” Marcos told officials.

Marcos earlier cited the need to rightsize government functions and streamline the bureaucracy to promote efficiency in public sector management.

“I have asked all of the department secretaries to do the same thing for their departments.

So seeing as I am now holding the portfolio of Secretary of Agriculture, we also have to do it in our department,” he added.

Road To Food Sufficiency!

Road To Food Sufficiency!

Stop Manipulated, Oppressive,
Antiquated Marketing System

Yesterday, I was tagged in a photo posted by FB user Penong Sebuya Gonzales which showed hundreds of kilos of red ripe tomatoes reportedly from Lantapan, Bukidnon dumped along the side of the road because of very low market prices.

The posted photos were actually a replay of so many similar tragic scenes of endings for farmers who ventured into vegetable production without an assurance of market absorption.

Our marketing system in a geographically fragmented country with over 7,000 islands is controlled by private traders plus dozens of middlemen whose main concern is profit and not food security or nation-building.

This was one of the major recommendations I submitted to National Security Adviser Sec. Clarita Carlos who asked me to help her craft the Food Security component of this administration’s National Security Strategy.

The policy statement made by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. yesterday stressing the need to support local production rather than depend highly on importation provides the impetus for the Food Self-Sufficiency program of this administration.

I identified the Food Shortage faced by the world today as the most urgent concern and added medium term and long-term programs, as well.

To address the impending Food Crisis which is the President’s top concern, I made three very basic recommendations:

  1. Identify the basic food commodities needed daily by Filipino families. (I identified Rice, Fish, Chicken, Meat, Vegetables and Fruits.)
  2. Refresh and update the National Food Supply and Demand Map crafted towards the end of my 3-year stint as Secretary of Agriculture which identified which towns or provinces produced commodities in excess of what they needed.
  3. Bring in the National Food Authority (NFA) and the Food Terminal Inc. to serve as the government’s food logistics agencies which would buy the excess products in specific areas to be repositioned and sold in the big cities or provinces where the goods are needed. This is a role which government could not yield to the private sector because there are food sources whose distance from the consumer centers would not make business profitable.
  4. Open People’s Food Malls (PFM) to be operated by NFA/FTI in the population centers, especially in Metro Manila where urban dwellers and consumers would have access to farm fresh and affordable food.

This is not a new idea.

This is just the revival of the original roles of NFA, FTI and Kadiwa during the time of former President Ferdinand Marcos and the institutional implementation of the concept of Tienda and MinDATienda which we staged during the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.

(The ideas I shared here on how to address the Food Crisis, including the medium-term and long-term solutions will be discussed lengthily in the book which I am working on titled: The Joseph Principle – Feeding Millions in 7,641 Islands.)

Kudos to a Public School Teacher sharing her shoes during graduation.

Sen. IMEE, DISMAY OVER ECOZONE VETO

DISMAY OVER ECOZONE VETO

Senator Imee R. Marcos expresses dismay over the recent decision of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to veto House Bill No. (HB) 7575 or An Act Establishing the Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport, Province of Bulacan, Monday, July 4, 2022.

In a press conference, Marcos warned that the veto of HB 7575 may send a chilling effect on both local and foreign investors, dissuading them from investing their money in the country.

Furthermore, she lamented that the veto would result in the loss of potential economic gain for the government. (FRR)
